(Click links for audio cuts)

It was an emotion-filled night at J. T. Christopher Stadium.  In addition to closing out their regular season against the powerful Cave Spring Knights with a district title on the line, the G.W. Eagles also spent halftime dedicating a memorial to former coaches Alger Pugh, Sonny Wall, and Eddie Martin.

Cave Spring got an early 7-0 lead, but G.W. recovered a muffed punt, then converted on fourth down to tie the game.   To the left, Antonio Fitzgerald's touchdown pass was the one that tied it up.

Cave Spring scored again, but G.W. blocked the extra point to make it 13-7.  Late in the first half, another fourth-down pass got G.W. into the end zone.  To the right, Antonio Fitzgerald takes it to the house! Berkeley Furgurson made the extra point to give the Eagles a 14-13 lead.

In the second half, Cave Spring missed a 50-yard Field Goal, but a penalty on G.W. set up a 45-yard attempt.  Chris McDuffie blocked it to preserve the lead. With 2:00 left, Cave Spring lined up for a game-winning 25-yard Field Goal.  It was NO GOOD! G.W. wins 14-13!!! To the left, players look over the memorial dedicated at halftime.
