Heartbreaker, Part 2 

The G.W. defense looks to stop Thomas Dale in Eagle territory.

For the second time this year, the G.W. Eagles put on a spirited late-game drive, but came up short.  This time, it was four yards short against the Thomas Dale Knights.  Dale scored a first-quarter field goal to take a 3-0 lead. Then G.W. would take the lead on a bizarre defensive play. Dale threatened late in the first half, but a four-yard pass in the end zone was incomplete, and the Eagles had a 7-3 halftime lead.  In the second half, the Eagles failed to score on their first two drives which got inside the Knight 30.  They would pay for it.  With less than five minutes left, the Knights scored to make it 10-7.  Then, with first and ten on their own ten, the Eagles marched down the field, with Micah Knight taking over.  They got it first-and-goal at the ten.  A five-yard run gave them second-and-five.  Micah Knight gained only one yard on third-down, setting up a fourth-and-goal from the four with :16 left.  The Eagles came up just short of the win.
