Two of the area's best teams put on a heck of a show in a special Monday
night affair at Christopher Stadium. The Eagles drew first blood on a run
from Bam Walton. The Lancers answered with a touchdown, but Marcus
Dodson blocked the extra point to maintain a 7-6 lead. Amherst County
scored in the second half to gain a 12-7 lead. In the 4th, G.W. forced a
fumble, and a long run by Haylen Murphy gave the Eagles a first and goal at the
seven. But a fumble on the next play ended the threat. But the
Eagles weren't done. John Gregory forced a fumble to
give the Eagles the ball back with 2:00 left...but the Eagles couldn't move the
ball, and ended up just short.
