Unfortunate Turnaround

The G.W. Eagles started off like gangbusters against the Amherst County Lancers. They scored on two Greg Thompson touchdown runs on their first five plays from scrimmage to take a 14-0 lead with less than four minutes into the game. But Amherst County altered their offense to an unbalanced line look and began chipping away at the Eagles' lead. They scored one two pass plays, including one of them with ten second left in the first half, to cut it to a 14-12 lead. Amherst scored on their first possession of the second half to take an 18-14 lead. But Cameron Martin took it to the house on a QB keeper in the fourth to give the Eagles a 21-18 lead. But Amherst County scored three minutes later to seal the deal.
