Oct. 23, 2026 --- G.W. 57 Mecklenburg 12
Air Lipscomb!
Backup
QB? No problem for GW. Stanford Lipscomb stepped in for an injured
Octavian Covington on the road against Mecklenburg County. He proceeded
to throw for over 200 yards as the Eagles overwhelmed the Phoenix,
57-12.
The Eagles scored on their first three possession to take a 22-0 lead
in the first quarter. That's when the Eagles scored an unusual
defensive touchdown.
The Eagles added two more scores. Then, late in the first half, they scored on special teams to go up 50-0!
Lipscomb ended the game with one of the finest passing performances in
recent Eagle history. His yardage was the most in a single game since
2022. Dalleon Johnson became the Eagles' first 100-yard receiver in
four years.
