Oct. 17, 2025 --- G.W. 42 Bassett 0

Homecoming shutout!

For the second week in a row the G.W. Eagles used a familiar formula. A punishing ground game on offense, and a punishing defense on the other side of the ball. The result, another shutout district win, this time 42-0 over Halifax County. Believe it or not, the score doesn't tell the story of how lopsided the game was.

The Eagles scored two quick rushing touchdowns from Alex Brandon to take a 14-0 lead. Then the defense put points on the board. For the second time this year, Josh White picked off a pass and took it the distance, putting the Eagles up 21-0.

Then the Eagles found a new weapon...their pass game. Octavien Covington tossed two touchdown passes to make it 35-0. Oct then outdid himself, bolting 61 yards on a read option keeper, giving the Eagles a 42-0 halftime lead.

While all this was going on, the Eagles defense gave up...nothing.  The Blue Comets had only 15 yards at half.  In the second half, a scrolling clock meant a little back-and-forth but no scoring.

It is the first time in 10 years that the Eagles have pitched back-to-back shutouts.
