An abrupt end to a fine season
The
G.W. Eagles met an excellent football team that played excellent
football! The Jefferson Forest Cavaliers returned the opening kickoff
of Friday's Region 4D Championship for a touchdown. And they never let
off the gas pedal. They piled up 413 rushing yards, the most an Eagle
team had surrendered in six years, en route to a 49-7 rout of the
Eagles.
As good as the Cavalier's offense was, their defense might have been
even better. The Eagles were grounded much of the night, rushing for a
season-low 143 yards. Stanford Lipscomb's 21st touchdown in the second
half was the Eagles only score of the night.
The Eagles end the 2025 with an outstanding 11-2 record! And a lot of returning underclassmen for 2026!
