Rarely has a hotly-anticipated high school football game so thoroughly lived up to the hype! In a week 10 clash of the titans at Christopher Stadium, the Magna Vista Warriors and the G.W. Eagles did battle for 48 minutes. But that wasn't enough to determine a winner. After two overtimes, and a stop on a two-point conversion, the G.W. Eagles laid claim to thier second consecutive Piedmont District title with an indescribably-exciting 50-49 win!

G.W. scored on their second possession to take a 7-0 lead, but Magna Vista answered a little more than a minute later with the first of their four touchdown passes to tie the game.  The Warriors added a field goal and another passing touchdown just before the end of the half to take a 16-7 lead into the break.

The Eagles wasted little time responding. Stanford Lipscomb burst through for a 78-yard touchdown run to get the Eagles to within two. But the Warriors answered with touchdown pass #3 to take a 22-14 lead. Alex Brandon scored the first of his three touchdowns on the night. A two-point conversion tied the game at 22-22 late in the third. Before the quarter ended, Tyler Martin caught his third touchdown pass from Simeon Moore to put the Warriors up 29-22 heading into the fourth.

Brandon struck again from 49 yards out on the Eagles' first play of the fourth quarter to tie the game back up. The Eagles regained their lead on their next possession with Brandon's fourth touchdown.

But back came the Warriors! Ethan Dukes scored from four yards out with 4:41 left to tie the game at 36-36.

The Eagles offense executed a solid drive to set up a 35-yard game-winning field goal. But the Warriors blocked it, and we moved to overtime.

In the first overtime the Warriors scored first. The Eagles had a third-and-eight. They resorted to a little trickery to tie the game AGAIN!

The Eagles scored on their second overtime possession.  The Warriors followed suit. Rather than go for the tie, Warriors Head Coach Joe Favero opted to go for two and the win.  The Eagles broke up the pass and escaped with an improbable 50-49 win!
