One
week after an emotional road win over their top district rivals, the
G.W. Eagles showed NO signs of rust. The Eagles treated a Homecoming
crowd to an offensive clinic, routing the Martinsville Bulldogs 56-8 at
J.T. Christopher Stadium.
The Eagles scored on their first two possessions, both on short runs
from Jaden Glenn, to go up 14-0. But a fumble gave the Bulldogs
possession in G.W. territory. A short drive got the Dogs near the
goal line, but an end zone interception by Tony Matos ended the
threat. The Eagles extended the lead to three touchdowns on the
very next play.
Glenn scored another touchdown to give him four on the night. The
Eagles added two more scores, including a nifty pass play, to take a
commanding 42-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half the Eagles poured it on. Alex Brandon spelled Glenn
and added three touchdowns, including a super 55-yard run to the house!
