Week 2 2021

The GW Eagles made their first-ever trip to South Carolina to take on one of the nation's highest-rated quarterbacks. The defense managed to hold Carson Black relatively in check while the offense had their way with the Nation Ford defense. GW scored three touchdowns in the first three minutes of the second half, turning a 23-20 halftime deficit into a 40-23 Eagle lead. They went on to win 46-23.

GW opened the scoring thanks to their defense. Kamori Dixon picked off the Falcons' second pass of the night. That set up a score on Jeb Brynes' first pass of the regular season! The Falcons quickly tied the score, then got the ball back. Then the Eagles picked them off again! This time Jalen Spratt took it to the house to give the Eagles a 13-7. The Falcons answered again and tied the game---then took the lead with a field goal. GW re-took the lead on a Jakobe Dixon score...but once again the Falcons answered and took a 23-20 lead into the break.

The Eagles wasted no time, using some Jakobe magic to re-take the lead. The Eagles got the fall back and scored another quick touchdown. After a Falcon fumble, the Eagles made them pay with another Brynes-to-Hairston hookup!

GW scored another fourth-quarter touchdown to take a 46-23 lead. The Falcons scored on a long run but couldn't get the on-side kick. The Eagles running game made sure they never got the ball back, sealing the game with a six first-down drive!
