2021 Playoffs Week 2

One week after an overwhelming offensive performance to open the 2021 playoffs, the G.W. Eagles showed they could play some defense also. They forced fumbles on the first two plays from scrimmage against the Western Albemarle Warriors, forcing five turnovers on the night and limiting their opponents to just 118 yards, en route to a 40-8 blowout win.

Fans were just getting comfortable in their seats when the Eagles struck. Iunta Barksdale stripped the ball carrier on the first play of the game. Kamori Dixon picked it up and ran 46 yards for a touchdown to put the Eagles up 6-0. On their next possession, the Warriors fumbled again. GW took advantage of the short field and scored again on a short run from Jakobe Dixon. Less than two minutes into the game, the Eagles already had a 14-0 lead. Jaboke and Kamori each scored again as the Eagles took a 26-0 lead into the half. The Eagles defense surrendered only 11 yards in the first half.

The Eagles got the ball to open the second half. Jakobe scored his third touchdown to make it 33-0. Later, a Donovan Howard interception gave the Eagles the ball on their own five. Eight plays later, the Eagles got a "big guy touchdown."

The Eagles improve to 9-1 and advance to the Regional Championship game where they travel to Salem. The Spartans have ended the Eagles' playoff run the past two seasons.
