Tuesday Night Takedown!
The
GW Eagles showed NO signs of fatigue on a Tuesday night---hosting the Bassett Bengals
just four days after beating Magna Vista.
The Eagles scored on offense, defense and special teams to win
48-20!
The Eagles wasted no time,
scoring on their first play of the game! Soon afterwards, the
Eagles’ special teams got into the act. The Eagles used their
defense later in the half to extend the lead.
Bassett pulled to within two touchdowns in the second half. But the Eagles went back to the air to put
the game away.
Quarterback
Jeb Byrnes took advantage of a defense that was geared to stop the run
by putting up career highs in attempts, completions and yards.
His 19 completions were the highest by an Eagle quarterback in
five years. His 279 yards was the most since older brother Hunter
had 290 yards against Salem in the 2014 Regional Championship.
The Eagles get
little time to rest. They close out their
regular season Friday at home against Halifax County.
