Humbling Home Loss
Willie Edmunds breaks free for a 66-yard first-half touchdown!

The
young GW Eagles learned some hard lessons about getting to the next
level. Their offense struggled at times, and their defense was
overwhelmed by a spectacularly-talented quarterback as E.C. Glass came
to Danville and left with a lopsided 49-15 win.
The night
belonged to Senior Glass quarterback DreSean Kendrick. He broke
free on Glass' first possession and scored from 32 yards out to put the
Hilltoppers up 7-0 midway into the first. Five minutes later, he
did the same thing, this time from 66 yards away. The Hilltoppers
scored a third TD and had a 21-0 lead with eight minutes left in the
second quarter.
The Eagles needed a quick answer---and they got
it. Willie Edmunds carried the ball, put his hand on a blocker's
back, and scampered 66 yards for a score!
Later, the Eagles forced a Glass fumble through the end zone to keep the score 21-7 at the half.
But
the second half was more of the same---more Kendrick. He scored
on Glass' first possession to make it 27-7. Glass scored twice
more to stretch their lead to 42-7. The Eagles went to the air to cut into the lead.
The Hilltoppers rolled up 440 yards on the ground against the Eagles---the most GW has given up in the modern era.
