Piedmont District Champs!  Again!


The GW Eagles took care of business, going on the road and pounding a winless Martinsville team 49-0.  Combined with a Magna Vista loss to Bassett, the win was enough to give the Eagles their third consecutive Piedmont District title.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Eagles scored four second-quarter touchdowns.  It started with the first play of the second quarter.  Shakobe Hairston then scored twice, then Wesley Graves got his 30th rushing touchdown of the season to give the Eagles a 27-0 lead at the break.

 Hairston got his third touchdown midway through the third.  Then Shawn Watlington scored on his only carry of the game.

The Eagles closed out their scoring on a nifty pass from our backup quarterback to a Sophomore Wide Receiver.

GW goes into the playoffs as the #5 seed, missing out on a home game by a single point.  They'll travel to South Boston to take on Halifax County.
