Week 7

Thanks to record-setting rainfall and flooding from the remnants of Hurricane Michael, the GW Eagles and the Magna Vista Warriors had to wait until TUESDAY to renew their rivalry. With even more rain coming down, the Eagles used their big play ability and another stout defensive performance to beat the Warriors 33-12.

Both teams struggled out of the gate, with Magna Vista turning the ball over twice and GW failing to get a first down. But the Eagles eventually broke on to the scoreboard with a little screen pass that Shawn Watlington turned into points.

The Warriors later tied the game at 6-6...but on the subsequent kickoff, Shawn showed his wheels again.

The Eagles forced a Magna Vista punt deep in their own terrirory late in the half. They needed only two plays to extend their lead to 21-6 at the break.

In the second half, Magna Vista scored to make it 21-12. But the Eagles began grinding out rushing yards while the defense kept the Warriors in check.
