Record rushing night!


After an uneven performance two weeks ago, the GW Eagles offense came back with a vengance as they opened up their Piedmont District schedule at Martinsville.  The Eagles scored on all but one drive, and did all of their damage on the ground.  They piled up an all-time school record 600 yards rushing as they rolled to a 66-19 win over the Bulldogs.

The Eagles overwhelmed Martinsville out of the gate, building an early 14-0 lead.  That included the first-ever touchdown for a promising Freshman.

But the Bulldogs would get their offense rolling, scoring touchdowns in their next three possessions.  But during that time, the Eagles kept scoring.  That included a mind-boggling 70-yard run from Wesley Graves.

The Eagles took a 36-19 lead into the break.  After holding Martinsville off the scoreboard on their first drive, the Eagles offense continued their onslaught.  Wesley Graves ended up with 306 yards and five touchdowns on 13 carries.  Late in the game, Willie Edmonds put on a clinic, gaining 165 yards on just three carries, scoring twice.
