Run, Forest, run!!
GW
opened the Piedmont District portion of their 2016 season in
style---jumping out to a big lead, then holding on for dear life to
secure a 35-33 win over Franklin County.Special
teams was the difference in the game. Matthew Mease blocked a
Franklin County extra point attempt in the second half, forcing them to
have to go for two late in the game to tie it. Then Mease, denied them again.But the night belonged to Senior tailback Kuashawn Forest. He wasted no time, scoring his first touchdown less than three minutes into the game.
But Forest wasn't done. With the score tied a 14-14 late in the first half, he took off on a yard run where he carried two defenders into the end zone. He *still* wasn't done. Kuashawn took a handoff minutes later and scampered 79 yards
for a score. He racked up 246 yards in the first half. His
second half output was limited only by Franklin County's time of
possession. His 317 yards ranks fourth-highest in school history,
and only the fifth time a GW running back has eclipsed the 300-yard
mark.
