Sunk in The Hole


It was a game worthy of the title District Championship.  The Magna Vista Warriors ended a two-year dry spell against the GW Eagles, beating their rivals from Danville 28-20.

Warrior's quarterback Akira Greefield riddled the Eagles defense with short passes.  It helped set up a first-quarter touchdown to give Magna Vista a 7-0 lead.  GW answered in the second with a score from Kuashawn Forest, but a failed conversion kept the Eagles trailing at the break, 7-6.

In the second half, the Warriors used an 84-yard run to set up a short score to take a 14-6 lead.  But the Eagles stormed back.  Sam Branch ran in a score and Forest got the two-point conversion to tie the game.  In the fourth, Branch scored again.  A missed extra point made it a 20-14 Eagle lead.

But the Warriors dominated from that point on.   They scored two minutes later to take a 21-20 lead; then sealed the game with a long TD run with less than two minutes on the clock.
