C.J. Graves returns an interception 100-plus yards for a touchdown!!

The G.W. Eagles played their first-ever Piedmont District game against a familiar foe. It was the 66th meeting between G.W. and Halifax County. For the first 16 minutes, the game was a slugfest, with no points and only a couple of first downs. On their fourth possession, the Eagles hit a long pass to set up a short run to take a 7-0 lead. The Eagles defense then forced a fumble at the Halifax five. G.W. scored on their next play to go up 14-0. A missed Comet field goal set the Eagles up for a long TD drive, giving them a 21-0 lead. Then, the defense got offensive as a Sophomore just up from the JV squad got a pick-six with 22 seconds left in the half.
In the second half, the Eagles poured it on. They went to the air to score touchdown #5! Then used another air strike to go up 42-0! After that, another Sophomore on defense got into the end zone---from a long ways out! The Eagles defense pitched their first shutout of the year as G.W. moves to 4-0!
