Courtland's vaunted Wing-T rushing attack proved too much for the G.W. Eagles. The guys from Danville dropped a wild, 56-to-34 decision to end their 2013 campaign.
The Eagles put themselves in the hole early on when Courtland blocked a punt and eventually recovered it in the end zone to take a 7-0 lead mid-way through the first. But the Eagles answered on their next possession. Two minutes later, the Eagles went to their ground game to take the lead. But they weren't done yet. They took advantage of a Cougar fumble and scored mid-way through the second! But Courtland scored three minutes later to pull to within a touchdown at halftime.
Then came the third quarter. Wow. Courtland scored three straight time, sandwiched around a G.W. interception to go up 35-21. The Eagles stormed back with a score in the fourth to make it 35-27...still with nine minutes left in the game. But the Cougars moved downfield again and scored. Then came the backbreaker---a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Eagles moved it downfield one last time and scored on a neat adjustment to the ball, but another Courtland touchdown gave them the final margin. The Eagles close out a fine 2013 campaign with a 10-2 record!
