The G.W. Eagles used four big offensive plays and a NASTY defense to secure the last-ever Western Valley District championship with a decisive 29-7 win over Franklin County.
Franklin County opened the game with a five-minute drive that ended on fourth down at the G.W. 27. The Eagles needed only one play to take the lead. After five consecutive punts, G.W. used another big play to take a 13-0 lead. Franklin County hit a fourth down pass for a touchdown to pull to within 13-7, but Travis Jones once again made it a two-possession game.
In the second half, G.W.'s defense took over, sacking Franklin County's quarterback four times and limiting FC to 22 total second-half yards. The Eagles got their final touchdown on a quick hitter that Tae Cobbs turned into six points. G.W.'s final points of the night came when Josh Davis got his third sack of the game, tackling Kyle Ellis in the end zone for a safety.
With the win, the Eagles clinched the District title. They'll have next week off before closing their regular season against Halifax County. Then, it on to the playoffs!
