Growing Pains

Greg Thompson finds the going rough against the Rocket defense.

The G.W. Eagles looked very much like a team making it's season debut---going up against a veteran team that already had two games under it's belt.  An early fumble turned the momentum as the Eagles ended up losing 27-0.  It was the second season in a row where the Eagles opened up by being shut out on the road.  The defense picked things up in the second half, but Person County QB/TB Brandon Smith scored four touchdowns and gained 118 yards on the ground.  G.W.'s offense struggled in it's first game under New Head Coach Dan Newell.
