The good news was the GW Eagles returned to the field for the first time in 462 days as they opened the delayed regular season.  The bad news was they opened on the road against a state powerhouse that (unlike the Eagles) had NOT missed any time in the weight room.  A dominating performance on both sides of the line, plus a big-play defense and special teams added up to a prohibitive 70-6 win for the Cavaliers.


The Cavs scored touchdowns on all six of their first-half possessions to take a 42-0 lead at the break.  In the second half, their defense took two interceptions to the house to pad the score.  They also added a kickoff return for a TD. The Eagles had to wait until the third quarter to get their one and only score.  A short pass from Jeb Byrnes and a long run from Isaiah Pritchett!


The Eagles return to Piedmont District play next Friday hosting the Patrick County Cougars.
