Oct. 5, 2012 --- G.W. 29  Patrick Henry 26

A Classic!

In a game that saw the lead change hands five times, the G.W. Eagles had one more big play than did the Patrick Henry Patriots; winning the Western Valley District opener 29-26, in what we called an "Instant Classic."

Both teams turned the ball over on their first possessions.  Patrick Henry got on the board first, but the Eagles recovered a late first-quarter fumbled and scored to take the lead.  41 second later, Travis Jones extended the lead.  The Eagles took a 15-6 lead into the break, but PH began the second half on a roll, scoring on their first two possessions to take a 19-15 lead.  Travis took care of that midway through the third.

But the Patriots answered with a touchdown on the first play of their next possession.  The Eagles took less than two minutes to regain the lead.   After that the Eagles had a monster defensive stand to seize control of the game!!
