Much like the General for whom they're named, the Stonewall Jackson Raiders used speed, surprise, and flanking maneuvers to capture the flag in a 44-23 win over G.W. The game started out great for the Eagles on a foggy night in Manassas. They scored on two of their first three possessions to take a 13-0 lead with a little more than five minutes left in the first half. But the Raiders scored with 2:32 left in the half to make it 13-7. Then hit a desperation pass on the last play of the half to take the lead at the break. G.W. pounced on a Stonewall fumble early in the third and got a field goal to take a 16-14 lead---but that was the only time they had the ball in the third quarter. Stonewall scored there touchdowns, sandwiched around a pair of successful "pooch" kickoffs that they recovered. By the time G.W. got the ball back, they were down 37-16. The Eagles scored once more, but Stonewall kept rolling, compiling 455 yards of offense---the most the Eagles have given up since we started keeping records in 1989. G.W. closes out an outstanding season with a 9-2 record.
