Long-time local official Gus Calos conducted the coin toss before the game!

The G.W. Eagles opened with a strong first quarter, then used a couple of non-offensive touchdowns to clear the way for a 40-7 win over Person County.  The Eagles scored three first quarter touchdowns from Haylen Murphy, Cam Martin, and Bam Walton.  In the second quarter, with Person County threatening, John Gregory returned a fumble 95 yards for a score to make it 27-0 at the break!  In the third quarter, Donald Thompson scored on an unusual punt play to put it out of reach.  Anthony Jacobs added a late score for good measure!
